How To Series

All Christians share the calling to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but it’s difficult to answer that call if we’ve not had the opportunity to be discipled in what it means to be a part of the Christian Community.

At Poplar Creek Church, we have developed the “How To” series of classes and small groups to help us learn about God and the church, connect with others through small groups and membership, and to pursue our own mission through classes and opportunities that will prepare us to serve others.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

– Matthew 5:14-16

Learn

At Poplar Creek Church, we believe that we shouldn’t try to do life alone, so Pastor Ted and Christy’s small group is designed to welcome those who are new to Poplar Creek. Meeting bi-weekly in their home, this group will discuss each of the core values of the church, answer any questions you have, and provide you with the opportunity to get to know a few of the other people who are new to PCC.

Every time we open the Living Word, God has the opportunity to reveal something new to us. When we choose to sit with other believers and open the Bible together, we learn not only from God’s Word, but also from each other.

This Sunday morning class meets each week to discuss a different biblical concept and study the verses that apply to that topic. Whether you are a new Christian, or a life-long believer, you are welcome to join in the conversation.

Connect

Jesus was in a small group. Are you?

Small groups accomplish two things: they help us build relationships that encourage us in our own walk, and they reveal opportunities to serve others.

“…let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”  – 1 John 3:18

At Poplar Creek Church, we know that finding others who share your interests is a great foundation for building a community. Because of this, we have groups based on Bible study, hobbies, and life-stages. If we don’t have a group that interests you, then talk to us about leading one!

More information regarding small groups can be found on our Small Groups page.

This class, taught in two Sunday morning sessions, prepares you for membership by reviewing church doctrines, answering questions, and helping you to discover where you fit in the church family.

Serve

Offered Wednesday evenings, this class challenges us all to find new ways to serve others in love.

Join this class and examine case studies and real-life examples from both inside and outside the church. These discussions will help prepare you for the mission God has called you–to no matter where that mission field is.

This Wednesday evening class prepares you for leadership, whether your goal is to volunteer at PCC, increase your reach to the larger community, or to do both!

In each session, students will discuss topics like what makes a godly leader, the responsibilities of leaders in the church, and some of the practicalities of leadership.

Poplar Creek Church has a long history of missions involvement, whether that be through home missions or overseas through our network of foreign missionaries.

In this Sunday morning class, learn about the missionaries we support, evangelism opportunities, upcoming mission trips, and how you can be involved.
