Frequently Asked Questions

In short, connections happen at small group meetings. There are many types of small groups at Poplar Creek Church. Some groups look like friends going out to lunch, doing a Bible or book study, playing sports, or gathering together at someone’s house. The groups may look different, but the goal of the groups is the same: doing life together. By participating in groups, you can expect to connect with others through a common activity, engage in life giving conversation, and request prayer.

Groups vary not only in type, but also in schedule. Some groups meet  once per week, some meet twice per month, and others meet once per month. We know that everyone has different availability, and we try to have groups that meet that need for flexibility.  Groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life, so even if you can’t attend every meeting, there is still great value in joining a group.

This varies depending on the group. We have short term groups that come together for a six – eight session study. This way, new people can join groups easily and regularly. As relationships form, some groups choose to stay together for longer periods, but new members are always welcome.

Most groups meet at a host or group leader’s home, in several cities across the greater Milwaukee area. Some groups meet at one of our church locations.

Not everyone will find the best fit with the first group they try. This is why we encourage you to select a few groups that interest you, contact the leaders, and try out a couple different groups before choosing the best one for you. The simple strategy to finding success in groups is to not give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone—including you!
